James arrived on the Falcon in 1635 at Barbadoes where his older brother
Richard had settled. They both came to New England a few years later. In
Newport, RI in 1639, in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts in 1645.
From the "Pioneers of Massachusetts" by Charles H. Pope:
James BURT was a town officer in Taunton in 1645. He was
guardian of his brother Richard's son, Richard BURT. (Richard's
death was recorded in the Plymouth Colony Records in 1647). His will
prob. March 2, 1680. He was aged and weak. He beq. to his oldest
son James, son Thomas, daughters Hannah and Rachel, and Hannah's
son Jacob Hathney (perhaps Hathaway!)
According to the "Second Boat", Volume 4, Number 2, page 50,
James BURT came over on the boat called the Falcon in April, 1635,
which sailed from London to Barbadoes.
