Guy “Soup” Surprenant-----56, Minot, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 in a Minot hospital.
Guy Robert Surprenant was born on February 3, 1957, a son of Dieudonne and Therese (Grondin) Surprenant in Barre, Vermont. He grew up in Barre and attended Spaulding High School.
Guy traveled to California for a short time, and then returned to Barre where he met his wife Maggie Bell in 1977. They were married in Barre on December 6, 1980. Guy worked for Poulin Aluminum for 6 years. Guy and Maggie had a son, Guy Jr. in 1978.
In 1984 Guy joined the United States Air Force. After basic training Guy was stationed at Shaw AFB in South Carolina where a second son, Denis in 1986. In 1989 Guy was given orders to Kunsan, Korea. Guy spent a year there and then returned to South Carolina. From South Carolina he was transferred to Loring AFB in Maine, where they remained for two years. In 1992 Guy was given orders to Minot AFB. Guy finished his career in Minot and retiring in 2005.
Guy and his boys loved the hunting and fishing so much in North Dakota that they decided to stay. After a brief retirement, Guy went to work for Capital RV Center in Minot.
Guy leaves behind his wife, Margaret, Minot, two sons, Guy,Jr. and Denis, both of Minot; mother Therese Surprenant, Rutland, VT; brothers, Normand (Kristen) Surprenant, Duxbury,VT, Bernard (Cheryl) Surprenant, South Burlington, VT, Donald Surprenant, CastletonVT, Charles Surprenant, Barre, VT, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Guy was preceded in death by his father, Diudonne and a niece, Alexis.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends may sign a guest register on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot
Memorial Service: Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11 am at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Burial: A private committal will take place at a later date.
