  [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #5006, Date of Import: Apr 26, 1997] Obit: Mrs. Mary L. Gruenewald, 90, widow of the late John Gruenewald, who last made her home with her niece, Mr. John Lubus, 1327 N. 38th St., East St. Louis, died in Alton at 11 o'clock this morning (August 4, 1944). Mrs. Gruenewald was the mother of Theodore Gruenewald, who was a retired motorman of the former East St. Louis and Suburban Railway Company, who died Nov. 4 last year. She was a native of Germany and her maiden name was Stief (sp?). Her husband preceded her in death many years ago, as did four of her children who died in infancy. Besides her niece, Mrs. Lubus, she leaves a half-brother, John Losses (sp), St. Louis, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
