| Notes |
- [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #5006, Date of Import: Apr 26, 1997]
George was a carpenter according to the birth certificate of C.
V. Hughes. According to the obit of his other son, Joel, in 1952,
George was a Methodist minister.
George and Rosilla were married on the same date that Rosilla's
sister, Freelove SHERMAN, married Benjamin BURNETT (maybe a double
ceremony?).
Dave and Mary searched National Archives in Washington, D.C. on
8/2/89. We found two George Hughes that served in the Union Army
during the Civil War. One was born in 1830 in Waterford, Ireland, and
the other was born in 1833 in Dublin, Ireland. Both joined in
Massachusetts.
There was a George W. Hughes, a Methodist minister, in upstate
New York in the 1870s, but research has proven that this was not
"our" George.
