Henry Watson Wilder, son of John Wilder, Esq., and Harriet Beaden, became Rector of Sulham, and at his untimely death was succeeded by his brother John, who was in the place in 1878, living in the Sulham House, which was given by John, the third inheritor, to his son William in 1582. On the death of his father in 1835, he succeeded to the estate. On the 6th of July, 1836, while on a pleasure excursion in a boat, near the Isle of Wight, the boat was capsized, and thus were both drowned. He was succeeded by his son Frederic, then four years of age, who in 1878 was in possession.
