- Doubtless a descendant of the above family was b. in Massachusetts?, Apr. 4, 1773; d. in S. Mar. 23, 1863, at the home of his s. I. Sumner- Wilder, with whom he lived in his old age. He appears to have lived in Templeton and Winchendon, Mass, and settled in Jaffrey abt. 1811. His will dated Apr, 8, 1857, on file in Keene, mentions children and gr-ch. He married:
(1) Winchendon, Sept, 23, 1798, Hittie (or Hittee - Mehitable) Pearson (Possibly she was the Hittee Pearson b. Bradford, Nov, 27, 1768; dau. of Moses and Martha (Goss) Pearson).
(2) May 17, 1808, Dorothy Whitcomb; b. abt- 1782; d. Jaffrey? Feb. 11, 1855, dau. of Ephraim and Elizabeth (Carter) Whitcomb of Jaffrey. Ch. by (1) wife i b. in Templeton, others in Winchendon, Mass.:
i. Sally- June 27, 1799; d. before 1857; m. Cyrus Bruce and res. in New Ipswich. Ch. i. Wilder', ii. Warren, iii. Mahala. iv. Charles, v. Cyrus Jr. vi. Sarah, vii. Bryon. (All the children were living 1857 and shai'ed in Johns's estate.)
ii. IVERS Feb. 4, 1801; d. East Wallingford, Vt. Nov. 25, 1864. (3)
iii. Increase Sumner Nov. 15, 1802; d. S. Nov. 5, 1888; a farmer. (4)
iv. Walter Feb. 14, 1805.

vi. Laura m. Sept. 27, 1829, George T. J. Betterly, of Brookline and Winchendon. (In Johns's will she is mentioned as "the daughter of my late wife", therefore may have been his stepdaughter.)
