• Notes

  Fred Pierce died by hanging in the barn of the business he and his brother owned - the Pierce Bros. Grain Company. This was a large agricultural needs business in Hollis between the late 1880's and the death of Fred in January of 1915. He was unmarried and despondent over his brother's death. The family business was at 124 Dow Road but they also had a store in the center of town on Monument Square. Fred lived at 92 Dow Road.
