| 2954 | [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #4588, Date of Import: Aug 24, 1997] Salmon Hebard Wilder, son of Moses H. Wilder, also bearing his maternal grandfather's name, was a mechanic, of good reputation as an improver and designer of machinery. From the avails of an invention he purchased a farm in Iowa and moved there, but his health failed, and after laying his wife and eldest daughter in the grave, he went to Colorado, where he spent six years, and then with restored health, he returned East, and was working at his trade. He resided in Meriden, with his two remaining daughters as housekeepers. Though not a graduate, he had a clear, vigorous, and well-balanced mind, as several articles in the New-Englander, International Magazine, and other papers, on the fallacy of some of the positions of the scientists of the day, would show. | Wilder, Salmon Hebard (I17654)

| 2983 | [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #4588, Date of Import: Aug 24, 1997] Susannah Wilder, 9-7, (137), daughter of James Wilder, 8-1, (46), see page, and Martha Broughton. SOURCE: The Book of The Wilders, 3rd Printing, 1998, Thomas Line, 1st Lineage, James Wilder, founder, page 11 The V.S. of Lancaster, Massachusetts say that on March 31, 1779, Susannah Wilder married Dr. Jonas Prescott, but does not identify her. My associate, Gerald G. Wilder, Librarian at Bowdoin College, sent me data assuming that this Susannah was (2309) who was born December 3, 1756 (Lancaster, V.S.) Daughter of Jotham Wilder and wife, Phoebe Wheeler of the Thomas Line, 12th Lineage. He was in error. There were several almost contemporary Susannahs in Massachusetts at that time and the daughter of Jotham and Phoebe is shown by the Old Wilder Book as having married January 12, 1779, Thomas Sawyer of Lancaster and having by him eleven children. Nor was she likely to have been (4268) of the Edward Line, 1st Lineage, born in Hingham in 1751, daughter of Ephraim Wilder and wife, Susannah Whiton. But there was born at Lancaster a Susannah Wilder, daughter of James Wilder and wife, Martha Broughton, who is not disposed of in the records, either by death orother marriage, who may very well be the one who married Dr. Prescott - particulary as the Old Book author's examination of this family's record was not very close. He missed the survival records of two of this Susannah's older brothers. So, until proved otherwise, we will record this Susannah as the PROBABLE wife of Dr. Jonas Prescott. Anyhow, she died early enough for the Doctor to marry a second time. | Wilder, Susannah (I17759)

| 2986 | [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #4588, Date of Import: Aug 24, 1997] The Plantagenet dynasty began with Henry II, son of Matilda and Geoffrey. Henry ruled from 1154 to 1189 over England and vast possessions in France. He centralized the English government, established peace and order, and founded the English common law system. His son, Richard the Lion-Hearted, led the Third Crusade and ruled from 1189 to 1199. Richard's younger brother John succeded him and ruled from 1199 to 1216. John lost most of England's French possessions, and was forced to grant the Magna Carta in 1215. | Henry, "Plantagenet" King Of England II (I22790)

| 2988 | [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #4588, Date of Import: Aug 24, 1997] Theophilus Wilder, (4262), son of Theophilus Wilder, (4219), and Mary Hersey, (4259). He was a Captain in the American Revolution. In the early part of 1777 there was a company in service commanded by Capt. Penniman, of Braintree. The only Hingham name on the roll appears to have been that of Theophilus Wilder, who was 1st. Lieut. There is another roll, however, of a company serving under command of Capt. Theophilus Wilder, and composed of men from Hingham, Stoughton, and Braintree. This company, like Capt. Penniman's was undoubtedly in Colonel Dike's militia regiment, and probably was in service in the early part of 1777. Capt. Wilder had twenty-eight men with him at first, and the company was afterward increased to fifty-two. | Wilder, Theophilus Jr (I7914)

| 2995 | [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 7, Ed. 1, Tree #4588, Date of Import: Aug 24, 1997] Thomas Wilder, (331), settled in Winchendon, where he resided until the contest with England, which ended in the revolution, waxed warm, and portended war. Not entering heartily into the spirit of independence, he returned to Leominster. Though this was the reason assigned for his removal by his neighbors, it is probable that other more worthy motives led to his return. Jotham, his son, succeeded him, and left a numerous posterity. Thomas and wife owned the Covenant of the church in 1718 and had two sons and four daughters baptized at the same time. They lived in South East Clinton, Massachusetts and there built a house, the cellar excavation of which was still to be seen in 1896, although later it was covered by the Metropolitan reservoir.
