Joseph Wilder,1111323111 (1288), son of Jonas Wilder, 111132311 (63), page, and Eunice Beaman (the first Eunice Beaman), born January 14, 1725, lived in East Haddam, adjoining Lyme, Conn., until 1763, when he removed to Barkhamstead, where he was a justice of the Peace and Representative for several years. A man of strict Christian character, of strong, vigorous constitution, he lived till his ninety-first year. He had nine children.

Josiah Wilder, 9-5, (135), son of James Wilder, 8-1, (46), see page, and Martha Broughton, (130), born in Lancaster, a graduate of Yale College, 1765, and a physician settled in Boston. He moved to Lancaster and practiced his profession there. He was an active citizen, influential in town affairs and an ardent patriot. He had six children, four of whom died under three years and a fifth at nineteen, he left no male issue, so that this lineage is represented now only by other names.

Josiah Wilder, son of Jonathan Wilder, (67) and Zerviah Houghton, was baptized February 17, 1744/45 at Sterling, Massachusetts, buried in Center Burying Ground, Templeton, Massachusetts. A farmer and proprietor of a sawmill, the remains of which may be still visible on the banks of Burnshirt River. A tract of land at Templeton was deeded to him through his mother, Zerviah Houghton Wilder. He was a Deacon and Choirister of First Church at Templeton where he was admitted July 17, 1763. A Capt. of Militia and led at least one expedition against the British during the American Revolution.

Josiah Willard, Colonel commanded the Fort at Brattleboro, Vermont, son of Henry Willard. He was among the first settlers of Lunenburg, Massachusetts. (founded in 1719) and from 1740 until 1750 was in charge of Fort Dummer, Vermont at the present town of Dummerston in Windham County, Vermont. His uncle, Rev. Samuel Willard was Vice President of Harvard College. His son, Josiah Willard, Jr., was for several years in charge of the garrison at Upper Ashuelot (now Keene, NH) and in 1749, removed to Winchester, N.H.

Juliet Buchanan Wilder, born in Indiana, the only daughter of Moses H. Wilder, was for many years a successful teacher. In 1853 she went out with Governor Slade as a teacher to Southern Indiana, and taught near Vevay for some years. In 1860 she was in Grinnell with her brother, and was in charge of the High-School; and on the death of her brother's wife and children she returned with the remaining children to her father and remained until his return from Colorado, when she took the children and made him a home in Connecticut.
In 1873 she was made a matron of one of the homes of the Girls' Industrial School in Middletown. Later she was the head of a home of the Industrial School at Lancaster, Massachusetts, on the original Wilder farm in Lancaster.
