Jabez Wilder, 139 (4191), son of Edward Wilder, 118 (4), and Elizabeth Eames, (4180). Defects in the records of towns and families often make it difficult to determine the correctness of the dates, or the order of birth, unless we can have the original family record. That record, often on the fly leaf of the old family Bible, is always reliable, but when copies are kept by others they are often incorrect. It is claimed of Jabez that he was born before 1656, also claimed born in 1658 and /or 1671.

At the time of the Battle of Bunker Hill he was on picket duty in the vicinity, and therefore not in the fight. He was Captain of the first military company in that town and was thenceforward known as "Captain Wilder." He moved to Woodstock, Vermont about 1790 where he resided until his death in 1848, at 91 years of age.

John Alfred Nelson, father of John August Nelson, was born in Sweden, August 15, 1837. He was reared and educated there, he married Emma Christina Ward, also born in Sweden December 14, 1840. They came to America in the summer of 1866, after a long tiresome voyage aboard a sailing ship, landed in New York, from there they went to Red Wing, Minnesota where they remained about a year. In 1867 they moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin where he worked for Knapp Stout & Co. From there he located on a Homestead, 160 acres, Section 10, Prairie Farm Township, Wisconsin. Moving his family into a little log cabin, the land was covered with heavy timber and no roads led to it. The furniture for this little home was made from trees and poles cut on the place, tools were few. It was sometime before the farm was sufficiently cleared to raise enough crops to support the family so for many years Mr. Nelson spent the winters in the woods leaving his wife alone in the cabin among the trees. She passed the lonely hours looking after her household duties, attending to the chores and spinning yarn and knitting socks and mittens. Mr. Nelson would walk to Menomonie, 30 miles for groceries and supplies, one time he carried a spinning wheel and groceries on his back,
back to the farm.

John Wilder,1111323 (9) son of Thomas Wilder,111132 (2), see page 6-15, and Anna Eames, at the Indian war he fled to Charlestown, where two of his children were baptized. We know not when he returned to Lancaster, but that is supposed to have been the place of his abode, and we know not the time of his death. He was one of the original proprietors of the town of Worcester, but it is not known that he ever resided there. He had six children, four sons and two daughters, most of whom lived in South Lancaster, then known as Six Nations, and now the town of Clinton, from which it is supposed that their father's home was there. He married Hannah Atherton, daughter of James Atherton. "Records of the Founders and early Settlers of Plymouth, Vermont," states his marriage date as May 17, 1672. LDS shows his date of death as January 9, 1681, this is before his last child was born.

John, "Lackland", King of England, reigned 1199-1216. Successor to his brother, Richard The Lion Hearted, had the reputation of being the most despicable of English Kings. John was suspected of coniving at the brutal murder of his nephew Arthur (the son of Geoffrey). He was also guilty of the less serious offense of carrying off and marrying a lady betrothed to one of his own vassals. Philip Augustus, as John's suzerain, summoned him to appear at the French court to answer the latter charge. Upon John's refusal to appear or to do homage for his continental possessions, Philip caused his court to issue a decree confiscating almost all of the Plantagenet lands, leaving to the English King only the southwest corner of France.
